1. Location- Be able to pick your locale depending on your personal taste. Consider job opportunities in the places you are thinking of renting a house or apartment in. If you are married and have kids, pick a location with a good school district; both public and private schools.

2. Finance- Make sure that you scope the area for rental or leasing rates and choose one that fits your financial capacity. Keep in mind that choosing highly urbanized cities to live in would cost infinitely more in terms of rent. However, it may also offer more job opportunities since large companies and enterprises can be found in larger cities.

3. Safety of the Neighbourhood- Make sure that you choose a neighbourhood that is safe for you as well as your family particularly your children. Consider crime rates and any concern related to keeping your family’s safety in check.

4. Convenience- In relation to location, convenience should also be a concern. That is, necessities should always be within reach. Grocery stores, restaurants, hospitals, etc. Even when choosing to live in the countryside, you should have easy access to these places.

Although renting is not as big of an investment as actually buying a house, it will nonetheless be a huge part of your monthly expenses therefore you should make sure that you make the right choices for you and your family.
